Songkran Festival, the Water Festival is very closely associated with water. Originally, people gently pour water on to elders and family to give good fortune, but now it has evolved to splashing strangers with water on the streets, either with water guns or buckets of water, all in the spirit of good fun! Because of this, Songkran is also often called as the ‘Water Festival’.

International tourists have mixed preference about this. Some will avoid traveling to Thailand during Songkran festival, but many plan their travel to coincide with the festival and join in the fun of Songkran water fights.

開会の挨拶ではタイのゴルフ環境のすば らしさ、日本人がいかにタイ国の観光産 業にとって重要なマーケットかなどについ てスピーチし、来年以降も同大会へのタ イ国政府観光庁によるスポンサー協力を 約束した。 主催のセンターポイント・ホテル＆レ ジデンスからはマリカ取締役が代表して 挨拶した。 今大会の参加者総数は136 名。上  賞者のリストや主な賞品リストは別表の 通り。

The City Pillar Shrine in Bangkok Thailand

According to an old Thai tradition, a city pillar had to be built upon the establishment of a new city. King Rama I had the Bangkok city pillar erected near the Temple of the Emerald Buddha on Sunday, 21 April, 1782, with the citys horoscope inside. The original pillar was made of cassia wood known as Chaiyaphruek, measuring 75 cm. in diameter and 27 cm. high. In the reign of King Rama IV, the old dilapidated pillar was replaced by a new one made of the same kind of wood, measuring 270 cm. high and standing on a base of 175 cm. wide, sheltered by a Prang-shaped shrine as it appears today. The shrine also houses images of protective deities including Thepharak, Chaopho Ho Klong, Phra Suea Mueang, Phra Song Mueang, Chaopho Chetakhup and Phra Kan Chai Si.

Great 5-star hotel for an excellent price!

Friendly and attentive staff which was well prepared for our arrival (we had booked via booking). great location within walking distance to subway, skytrain and the shopping area around siam square! beautiful rooms with a nice view (if you´re lucky) and a bathroom with tub and shower, gorgeous pool, nice reading room. breakfast was ok, but the breakfast room could be nicer!
we´ll definitely come back!

It is situated on U-Thong Nai Road, or  ending of Ratchadamnoen Nok  Avenue, near Dusit Zoo.
The Ananda Samakhom Throne Hall is the beautiful white building facing the Royal Plaza where the statue of H.M. King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V )stands.

It is designed in Italian Renaissance style and was supervised by Chao Phraya Yommaraj, with a team of Italian architects, engineers and painters. The exterior is decorated with marble imported from Carrara in Italy. As beautiful as the exterior is, it is the exquisite paintings painted by Italian artists inside the Dome of the Throne Hall  which trace the history of the Chakri Dynasty from Kings Rama I to Rama VI.

At the present, it displays the exhibition ” Arts of  the Kingdom V” which consists of Masterpieeces of Thai craftsmen created with utmost skill by Sirikit Institute at Chitralada Villa. All masterpieces were made in auspicious Occasions of the present reign.
