The CP Chidlom is an excellent place to stay. Simple as that. I stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed every moment of it. I arrived late in the evening from Singapore over the weekend and it was great from the check-in to me leaving! Checking in was quick and efficient and my luggage had disappeared. The chap at reception escorted me to my room (my luggage was already there) and showed me the facilities of the room. I had booked a studio room, so in the kitchen there was a fridge, microwave, cooker and also enough utensils and cookware to cook for myself, which I did on a number of occasions. The studio itself was not massive by any means, but it was spotless, very welcoming and cosy and you didn’t feel as if there wasn’t enough space, if that makes sense. And the internet was complimentary and very quick.

The location is really good in that it’s not far from the Chidlom BTS, but you can get a lift in the golf cart which runs a service to and from there throughout the day. Around the location there are also lots of restaurants, convenience stores and massage parlours (clean) and a little further in one of the department stores, there is a large supermarket in the downstairs area if you are also staying in a studio and want to cook for yourself. Suggest you get a taxi or tuk-tuk back to the CP though as you might be a little thirsty and in need of a shower by the time you get back to your room!

I don’t think I can actually add any more to this review apart from to say that this is where I would come back to stay for business or if I was on holiday. The prices are very reasonable and tie that in with the service and location and you can’t go far wrong. I have heard that the prices have increased due to its popularity. I hope this isn’t the case because as prices go up, so does the expectation of the guest. The reviews on here are good and the stats on the traveller rating says it all. If the price becomes prohibitive then the reviews definitely won’t be as glowing custom might be affected. Just a thought.

Orange Fever, Thailand! Enjoy while it lasts

Thai Tangerine (Small mandarin oranges – Som Cheen) –

Because of the hot tropical climate and abundant rainfall, Thailand is ideal to grow a variety of fruits. Tangerine is a tropical and sub-tropical tree probably native to Southern China, the Philippines and the Malay Archipelago. There are many different hybrids or varieties of Mandarins and the fruit is high in Vitamin C and its juice is a popular drink.
The mandarin is easily peeled with the fingers, starting at the thick rind covering the depression at the top of the fruit, and can be easily split into even segments without squirting juice. This makes it convenient to eat, as utensils are not required to peel or cut the fruit.

The most distinctive feature of all Mandarin oranges is its peelable skin and the best crop is grown in Bang Mot district, the central part of Thailand. Nowadays, tangerine is grown more at Rangsit in Pathum Thani Province, north of Bangkok. The peak season is from October to Feburary. Enjoy!
